New Em-400 Compressor Controller with Color HMI
February 2009 – Petrotech Incorporated, a 30-year supplier of turbomachinery control solutions, introduces its first stand-alone compressor anti-surge controller with a built-in color HMI (human machine interface) display. The Em-400 HMI displays a live (dynamic) compressor surge map for easy viewing of compressor performance. Before the Em-400, users relied on separate, costly HMI systems to see the live compressor map. The Em-400 touch screen HMI gives the operator comprehensive compressor information and control.
In addition to the live compressor map, the Em-400 HMI also provides the information and control capability found in more expensive HMI systems. This compact display, which is built into the front panel of the Em-400 controller, does not require any additional panel space.
Other features of the Em-400 include control of up to three compressor bodies, capacity control, performance monitoring, load sharing, recycle transfer control, user-directed pressure override control and standard Ethernet communications.
Petrotech began supplying stand-alone anti-surge controllers in the late 1970s. Today, 30 years later, we find that many of these systems are still providing “bulletproof” compressor surge protection. However, for those users who find the older systems simply unable to keep up with today’s information demands, Petrotech has designed the Em-400 as a direct upgrade replacement system.
As a full-service supplier, Petrotech also provides recycle valves and valve sizing services to complete a compressor control retrofit.
